Pia Pehrson is a partner at Foyen Advokatfirma and head of the Environmental team of the firm. Prior to joining Foyen in 2004 she worked for the Vattenfall Group, one of Europes largest producers of electricity and heat. Pia Pehrson works with mining projects on a daily basis and has extensive experience of permitting, land issues and due diligence. She is a board member of Georange.
Pia Pehrson is particularly experienced in matters related to extensive application procedures and negotiations for mining projects, energy related issues and infrastructure projects. She regularly works with building permits, local plans, land parcelling procedures (also 3-dimensional), historic monuments and expropriation of land, as well as emission rights and waste disposal issues.
Pia Pehrson is a co-author of the global legal guide to mining “Getting the Deal Through – Mining 2017” and also frequently writes debates articles in national press.

On January 1, 2018 new rules regarding environmental assessments, environmental quality norms and Environmental Impact Assessments were introduced in Sweden. At the same time the requirements regarding consultations for the establishment of mining operations have increased.
The new regulation regarding environmental quality norms will not only affect the planning and permitting of mining operations but also have a considerable impact on the planning of infrastructures. This affects every project – Swedish and international.
