Åsa Borssén
Åsa Borssén is the ballerina that turned to law and a commitment to sustainability in the extractives. She is the co-founder and host for Highgrade Media, the acclaimed online interview series. To date, she has more than 50 published interviews with experts and thought leaders in the extractives.
Highgrade specialises in identifying, capturing and disseminating analysis and insights in the field of natural resources and economic development. Its mission is to provide open and free access to specialist knowledge and to disseminate good practice and innovation to all stakeholders – all with the aim to advance the discussion on how best natural resources can contribute to sustainable economic development.
Åsa started her career as a research analyst with a focus on mining legislation, minerals policy and environmental impacts, both in advanced and emerging countries. Later, she joined the German government agency, BGR, where she worked to promote development cooperation in global mining activities. Åsa holds a J.D. in International Law from Uppsala University and a master’s degree in International Affairs from George Washington University with a Fulbright Scholarship.
